Coastline conservation

Caretta, caretta

Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc is pleased to support the Blue Planet association and in particular their work for the Loggerhead Turtles, caretta caretta, that make the Mediterranean their home. 70 of these shy creatures were counted on our shores last year.

We are committed to the preservation of the Antibes coastline and its rich biodiversity, you can join us by making a donation for the cuddly sea turtle placed in our guestrooms. Your contribution will help fund the following initiatives:

Mission Caretta

This breeding study nurtures Caretta caretta sea turtles in a natural lagoon at Port Mallet, Cap d'Antibes.  Monitoring behaviour determines whether they can be successfully released into the wild.

  • The wildlife rehabilitation centre

Situated at the heart of L’espace Mer et Littoral, in the town of Antibes Juan-les-Pins, this clinic specialises in treating injured or sick sea turtles found in the wild. After their recovery, the turtles are returned to the sea.

  • The ObsTortueMed campaign

Every summer people on the water are invited to participate in the observation of sea turtles off our coasts. Boaters, divers and fishermen all have a chance of spotting this discreet inhabitant of our regions.

By adopting the cuddly toy placed in your room, you will be supporting sea turtle conservation actions and the preservation of the rich, but fragile, biodiversity of the Mediterranean.

Please make your donation at reception upon departure.
